Newsletter 15th June 2025

Beginning of time – wisdom
Wisdom, truth and love seem to be the themes of readings today, and that love will lead to hope.
It’s a confusing sort of feast, as we cannot understand the truth of the Trinity But we can ‘hit’ it from different angles.
The wisdom of God has been born before the beginning of time. Somehow wisdom is essential to God – and is presented very often as female. In celebrating the Trinity we celebrate and ask for wisdom, which comes from the heart of God. So this wisdom is the sort of wisdom that comes from love.
Love is ‘poured’ into our hearts by the Spirit. Connected with love are qualities we would want to live by – courage and hope. These are the gifts of the Spirit as wisdom may be the gift of the Father.
Jesus is presented by the gospel as the source of truth. His also is the truth of love, as his truth is best seen on the cross, in his self-sacrificing love.
The most famous icon of the Trinity by Rugenev, well-known to us now, has the Trinity at a table and an empty space at the table for us all. In one sense, they are not completed without us! We are part of their love, and their life of wisdom, truth and love, which they wish to share with us.

Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit.
As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be,
world without end.
Amen.
Donal Neary SJ

Students Prayer
Lord, I ask you to help me at this stressful time. I feel that so much depends on these exams that I really feel burdened. I feel that in addition to carrying my own burdens, I am carrying the expectations of so many others – family, friends, and society. Help me to keep calm at this time, so that I can think straight and apply myself to the best of my ability. Let your spirit help and inspire me, so that I can remember all that I have studied and put together my answers in the best way. Guide me in all my ways, so that I may be fulfilled in you. Amen.

Jubilee Prayer

Father in heaven, may the faith you have given us in your son, Jesus Christ, our brother, and the flame of charity enkindled in our hearts by the Holy Spirit, reawaken in us the blessed hope for the coming of your kingdom.

May your grace transform us into tireless cultivators of the seeds of the Gospel. May those seeds transform from within both humanity and the whole cosmos in the sure expectation of a new heaven and a new earth, when, with the powers of Evil vanquished, your glory will shine eternally.

May the grace of the Jubilee reawaken in us, Pilgrims of Hope, a yearning for the treasures of heaven.
May that same grace spread the joy and peace of our Redeemer throughout the earth.
To you our God, eternally blessed, be glory and praise for ever. Amen

Ciorcal Cómhrá Returns – Fáilte Mór Roimh Chách!

We are delighted to welcome everyone back to the Ciorcal Cómhrá at Tramore Library. Following the Easter break, our weekly Irish conversation group will be meeting again on Thursdays at 7pm and we can’t wait to get chatting again.
Our sessions are all about enjoying the language together, having a laugh, and keeping the cúpla focal alive in a supportive setting. It’s a lovely way to spend an hour through sharing stories, trying out a few sentences and connecting with others over a mutual love of Gaeilge.
Come along as we pick up where we left off. We’re looking forward to seeing familiar faces and welcoming new ones too. Bígí linn!
