Mass of Healing & Anointing of the Sick

Friends, during the month of February one of the Church’s most significant feast days are celebrated. This is the feast day of Our Lady of Lourdes. Lourdes holds a special place for all who suffer and for all who are in need of healing, regardless of the manner in which that healing is needed. The Lord Jesus was continually healing people wherever He went and sought to heal people completely in mind, body, and spirit regardless of their ailment. He continues to do so.
Trusting in the Lord’s willingness to heal and comfort, over the next weeks we shall celebrate in our Churches masses of Healing with the Anointing of the Sick. All are welcome to attend and to seek the Lord’s healing and comfort in whatever way people may need it through the anointing of sacred oil.

Mass times are:

Carbally – Monday 20th Feb. 7.30pm
Fenor – Monday 20th 7.30pm
Dunhill – Thursday Feb 23rd 7.30pm
Holy Cross , Tramore – Tuesday 28th Feb 10.00am & 7.30pm

KEEPING OUR GRAVEYARDS TIDY

As we approach the season of Lent, we kindly ask you to remove any withered Christmas wreaths or Bouquets from your graves.
PLEASE TAKE THEM HOME WITH YOU.
I have seen with disappointment that waste flowers & wreaths from some graves are being disposed of at the entrance to the graveyard. I appreciate that great care and attention is given to the graves in our graveyard.
We all want to see our graveyards looking neat and tidy and to this end I ask please:
STRICTLY NO DISPOSAL OF ANY WASTE FROM GRAVES TO BE LEFT ANYWHERE IN THE GRAVEYARDS

Thank you kindly.
Fr Richard.

Reflection for the 7th Sunday in Ordinary Time

Give good to an enemy
This is quite a tough gospel. We sometimes like to get our own back. We know the desire for vengeance in family and other groups, and in national groupings. The ‘eye for an eye’ brings no peace, just a quiet lull in violence.
We know the opposite. People see the enemy walking the street and know that the only way forward is to make peace. This may not mean forgiveness immediately. Some can find a way for-ward only gradually.
The forgiveness of the gospel is a slow journey. We have small hurts and have ways of dealing, with them. But the big ones are there too – maybe someone getting a job over someone dishonestly, being abused, family being mocked, bullying. Healing, freedom and forgiveness takes time.
We need to understand our own vengeance and at times for¬give ourselves for it. The love of God is the love that helps us love the self in the normal hurts and grievances of life. The love of God is a grace, filling that space in us that is open to love – the grace of loving self and others.
To be perfect is to become like God in compassion and in love. This is a wonderful vision for ourselves, our church and our world. It is the dream of God that all God’s children live in love, peace and justice.
Prayer helps … can you bring someone to God – to the cross?
Pray with someone at the cross; it makes a difference.

Lord, help me to forgive and, when I cannot,to be patient with myself as you are with me. Donal Neary SJ
