Newsletter 24th August 2025  – 21st Sunday in Ordinary Time

World of Love
In a family so much love is lavished on the new-born first child, and you hear them saying that’s the end of freedom now for a good few years. Or the grandchildren come and there’s the babysitting. Life deepens love and narrows our freedom. Jesus says elsewhere that love is the door to eternal life.

In laying down life for a friend, the cross was a narrow door.

Real love means little things a lot of the time, and with God it means time now and then dedicated to prayer and to worship, as well as loving our neighbour.

Love demands a lot as well as giving a lot. With the people we most love, we are most vulnerable and they can bring the worst and the best out in us.

The sick child, the elderly in the family, those in prison or in a difficult marriage call on our love, as does a husband or wife needing a lot of care in illness or old age. There is a special love shown by volunteers in our country and the developing world. The grandchild who is isolated and lonely calls too on our love. This is the world of love, the only world worth sacrificing anything for.

The condition for entering is not where you come from, whether you are first or last, whether you wear the right clothes or even turn up on time – the condition is that, in the way of the living God, you hear the word of God daily and live by it faithfully.

Lord, may your will of love be done on Earth.

Donal Neary SJ

Jubilee Prayer

Father in heaven, may the faith you have given us in your son, Jesus Christ, our brother, and the flame of charity enkindled in our hearts by the Holy Spirit, reawaken in us the blessed hope for the coming of your kingdom.

May your grace transform us into tireless cultivators of the seeds of the Gospel. May those seeds transform from within both humanity and the whole cosmos in the sure expectation of a new heaven and a new earth, when, with the powers of Evil vanquished, your glory will shine eternally.

May the grace of the Jubilee reawaken in us, Pilgrims of Hope, a yearning for the treasures of heaven.
May that same grace spread the joy and peace of our Redeemer throughout the earth.
To you our God, eternally blessed, be glory and praise for ever. Amen

Ciorcal Cómhrá Returns – Fáilte Mór Roimh Chách!

We are delighted to welcome everyone back to the Ciorcal Cómhrá at Tramore Library. Following the Easter break, our weekly Irish conversation group will be meeting again on Thursdays at 7pm and we can’t wait to get chatting again.
Our sessions are all about enjoying the language together, having a laugh, and keeping the cúpla focal alive in a supportive setting. It’s a lovely way to spend an hour through sharing stories, trying out a few sentences and connecting with others over a mutual love of Gaeilge.
Come along as we pick up where we left off. We’re looking forward to seeing familiar faces and welcoming new ones too. Bígí linn!
