Newsletter 8th June 2025
Called into following Christ Pentecost is really something new!
The first reading has no blarney no recrimination for the death of Jesus – only a new call and new mercy. The gospel is about the coming of the Spirit and the main sign of the Spirit is forgiveness. There was a lot of need for forgiveness around in the first group of Jesus’ followers. They had let him down and had let each other down. They looked around and like any group felt memories of hurt shame, let-down, injury and harm. They saw those who had abandoned Jesus and tried to cover up the sin; or they saw others who just knew they had done wrong and were sorry. All were forgiven. And all are now called into the following of Christ.
We follow Christ with all sorts of personal gifts, talents and sins in our back-pack. Like people on pilgrimage, we are cluttered. The Holy Spirit opens our hearts to let this baggage just fly away! We are people of freedom and of a new song. What song do I sing in the presence of the Lord? One that brings me back into misery like singing of shame and misery or one that brings me into the freedom of the Alleluia? Can my heart dance with the joy and hope of Pentecost?
Ask this day for what gift of the Spirit you really want, and maybe include always the gift to be able to let go of hurt we have suffered from others or inflicted on them, – to open the heart to all, and – to forgive, or if we cannot quite manage that, – to want to forgive.
Holy Spirit, forgiveness of God, give me your true freedom.

Jubilee Year of Hope
Jubilee Prayer
Father in heaven, may the faith you have given us in your son, Jesus Christ, our brother, and the flame of charity enkindled in our hearts by the Holy Spirit, reawaken in us the blessed hope for the coming of your kingdom.
May your grace transform us into tireless cultivators of the seeds of the Gospel. May those seeds transform from within both humanity and the whole cosmos in the sure expectation of a new heaven and a new earth, when, with the powers of Evil vanquished, your glory will shine eternally.
May the grace of the Jubilee reawaken in us, Pilgrims of Hope, a yearning for the treasures of heaven.
May that same grace spread the joy and peace of our Redeemer throughout the earth.
To you our God, eternally blessed, be glory and praise for ever. Amen

Ciorcal Cómhrá Returns – Fáilte Mór Roimh Chách!
We are delighted to welcome everyone back to the Ciorcal Cómhrá at Tramore Library. Following the Easter break, our weekly Irish conversation group will be meeting again on Thursdays at 7pm and we can’t wait to get chatting again.
Our sessions are all about enjoying the language together, having a laugh, and keeping the cúpla focal alive in a supportive setting. It’s a lovely way to spend an hour through sharing stories, trying out a few sentences and connecting with others over a mutual love of Gaeilge.
Come along as we pick up where we left off. We’re looking forward to seeing familiar faces and welcoming new ones too. Bígí linn!
