Each Other’s Keepers
In any group, small and big, things cause friction. Everyone thinks his or her way is right. We can fight over who is right. Some things are worth a fight, others not.
In the big questions of life, we need the advice, support and love of the other. Many people ask themselves, “Why I didn’t give an honest opinion about a decision like marriage or a job or a course of studies which seemed ill-advised to everyone?’ We all have good and not-so-good tendencies. We can only advise as best we can, sensitively and wisely, and hope we get a hearing.
We are afraid to hurt, to be rejected. Why do we let so many people drink themselves into trouble and never tell them? The terror of a neighbourhood, no matter what age, needs to be con¬fronted. The problem of drugs in a neighbourhood is not con¬fronted. Crime is not reported.
In small and big things we are each other’s’ keepers. Jesus is saying something like that today. Parents can find this difficult as they try to guide the family well and not lose them. We have social responsibility in the family and in the neighbourhood and even worldwide for the common good.
God wants the best for each of us. We can help each other to goodness, we can support each other, advise each other, pray for and with each other, and help each other on our way to God.
Recall an occasion when someone gave you good advice,
even when you may not have liked it at the beginning.
Be grateful!

Give me wisdom, Lord, when others ask me for advice or an opinion.

Fr Richard’s Silver Jubilee-Thank You.

On behalf of my family and I, can I express my sincere gratitude for the kindness and thoughtfulness shown to us on the occasion of my Silver Jubilee. We were left speechless by all that was organised and prepared, and by the many good wishes, prayers and gifts given.
You, the Parishioners of Tramore/Carbally, Dunhill/Fenor, were beyond kind and generous. I thank you all for being so.
Can I also thank everyone who prepared, participated, and attended our Mass of Thanksgiving; for all who organised, welcomed, and served up refreshments in Glor Na Mara Hall and got it ready for school the following day; and to our Parish Pastoral Councils, Parish Personnel, and volunteers. I will be forever grateful to everyone.
My family and I will treasure the memory of a very happy evening. Thank you for being part of it.

NOVENA

Novena in honour of the EXALTATION OF THE HOLY CROSS
begins Sat Sept 5th at 10am Mass in Holy Cross Church, Tramore & continues until 13th September 2026.

Mass at 11am on Sunday 6th, 10am from Monday 7th Sept – Saturday 12th with the final Mass at 11am on Sunday 13th.
Confessions available every day before Mass throughout the Novena.

VOLUNTEER DRIVERS REQUIRED

The Irish Cancer Society is seeking compassionate volunteer drivers to join our pool of drivers. As a volunteer driver you would be bringing patients undergoing chemotherapy to the hospital and back home for their treatment. Gifting your time means that cancer patients will have comfortable (one on one) transport to attend appointments for their lifesaving treatment.
If you can spare 2 days per month, have a valid driving licence, and a safe, reliable vehicle, you are the perfect candidate to make a significant difference. The Irish Cancer Society will provide you with training before you start as a driver for us. Your generosity not only eases the journey for many during a challenging time but also offers comfort and support when it’s needed most.

The feedback we receive from patients that have relied on the Transport Service in the past is heart-warming and underlines the need of its existence. We would be extremely grateful for your support, as it will help us to continue supporting those who are impacted by cancer.
