Reflection for 8th Sunday in Ordinary Time

She must have a lovely heart!
Someone said to me of a friend – She must have a lovely heart! The Gospel today is about goodness inside and that we draw much from the store of goodness inside ourselves.
A way of looking at this is to wonder what makes us feel positive in ourselves about others and about the world. We have days when we feel truly grateful for much in life and in the world, and the store of goodness fills up.  There are days when the opposite happens, and Jesus speaks of the ‘store of badness’.
The store of goodness is filled up in many ways:
~ a good conversation with a loved one,
~ time spent with an infant in wonder of how and what this child is and will be,
~ listening to some good music and admiring good art,
~ taking time to pray and listening to the word of Jesus in the Gospel,
~ finding time to pray with others at the Mass or in prayer groups.
God in many ways increases our store of goodness and we allow this happen.
You can find your favourite ways of bringing out the best in yourself.
We know of people we meet whom we always feel the better for meeting.
Prayer and faith should always bring the best out of us:
give time each day to allow the total love of God for us to reach us.
Another store of goodness is the goodness of self.
We can be too critical of ourselves and if so, we will probably find we are critical of others. Look this day into the mirror and give thanks to God for the man or woman you see there. If you look on ourselves with love, we will look on others the same.
Lord, teach me your goodness.

Ash Wednesday 5th March

Ash Wednesday is a day of Fast and Abstinence.
Mass: Holy Cross Church: 10am
Carbally – 7.30pm
Dunhill – 9.00am
Fenor – 6.00pm (Blessed ashes will be distributed at each Mass)

Stations of the Cross

Stations of the cross will take place during lent every Friday morning after the 10am mass, starting on March 14th. Prayers for the Holy Souls after 10am Mass on Friday mornings after the Stations of the Cross during Lent.

Trócaire boxes

Trócaire boxes are available in the porches. Please take home a Trócaire box for Lent and give it a prominent place somewhere in the home.

Pope’s Intention for March

For families in crisis.
Let us pray that broken families might discover the cure for their wounds through forgiveness, rediscovering each other’s gifts, even in their differences.
 

Mass Booking

The Mass Book for June will open at the Parish Office on Monday 3rd March at 9.30am. Phone bookings will be taken after 10am.
 

Coffee Morning for Irish Motor Neurone Disease

Coffee Morning & Raffle in aid of  the Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association. Please come along and raise a cup for MND, on Tuesday 4th March, from 10.30am in the Tramore Golf Club.

All funds raised will go directly to the Irish MND association.
 

The Tramore Active Retirement Association

The Tramore Active Retirement Association monthly General Meeting will be held on Tuesday, March 4, 2025 at the Community Care Centre on the Pond Road at 11:00 a.m. All are welcome. 

Church Cleaning

The Church monthly cleaning will take place on Wednesday 5th March after 10am Mass. We thank all our volunteers for their continued help.
 

Power And Grace Zoom Series

Tuesday 25th Feb, 4th & 11th March.

Life in the Spirit Seminars in Tramore

Venue: – Glór na Mara
Date: – Monday 17th Feb and runs for 7 consecutive Mondays
Time: 7.30pm – 9pm (t/c b4)
The aim of the Seminars is to establish, deepen or restore a personal relationship with Jesus through the sharing of the Gospel in a simple but profound way.

Each seminar builds on each other commencing with God’s love and finishing with Transformation in Christ.
Life in the Spirit Seminars give the participants an opportunity to open themselves up to experience the “full life” that Jesus won for them, a life of love, peace and joy in the midst of normal difficulties and troubles.
 
You are invited to “Come and See” in this jubilee year of Hope.

An Evening With The Chosen in Tramore Parish

Tramore Parish invites you to see Jesus through the eyes of those who lived with and knew Him. Come along to watch Season Two of The Chosen series with us at Glór na Mara School, Convent Hill, Tramore beginning with tea & coffee from 7.15 to 9pm on Mondays: 10th March and 14th April. All are welcome.
 

Holy Cross Church Opening Hours

Holy Cross Church will open at 9.15am Monday to Saturday, and will close at 4pm Mon, Tue, Wed & Friday.
Exposition takes place on Thursdays at 5pm and the church will close immediately afterwards.

Jubilee Prayer

Father in heaven, may the faith you have given us in your son, Jesus Christ, our brother, and the flame of charity enkindled in our hearts by the Holy Spirit, reawaken in us the blessed hope for the coming of your kingdom.

May your grace transform us into tireless cultivators of the seeds of the Gospel. May those seeds transform from within both humanity and the whole cosmos in the sure expectation of a new heaven and a new earth, when, with the powers of Evil vanquished, your glory will shine eternally.

May the grace of the Jubilee reawaken in us, Pilgrims of Hope, a yearning for the treasures of heaven.
May that same grace spread the joy and peace of our Redeemer throughout the earth.
To you our God, eternally blessed, be glory and praise for ever. Amen

Irish Conversation – Tramore’s Ciorcal Cómhra

You are warmly invited to join our Ciorcal Comhrá in Tramore Library on January 23rd!
If you’ve ever wanted to dust off your cúpla focal or improve your Gaeilge in a relaxed and welcoming setting, then Tramore Library is the place to be. Starting again after Christmas, the Ciorcal Comhrá (Conversation Circle) will meet weekly on Thursdays at 7pm, beginning January 23rd. The Ciorcal Comhrá offers a fantastic opportunity to chat in Irish, whether you’re fluent, a beginner, or somewhere in between. All ages and stages are welcome, making it a perfect chance to connect with others, share stories, and enjoy the rich beauty of the Irish language. This informal gathering is a friendly and supportive way to practice speaking Irish, meet new people, and keep our native language alive in the community. There’s no pressure and no tests – just the joy of conversation and a shared love for Gaeilge.
