God’s Home
Making a home is a big opportunity of love for a husband, a wife and a family. They try to make it their own: pictures and memorabilia here and there make a home out of a house. It doesn’t have to be perfect. The want others to be able to feel at home in their home also.
It is the same with Jesus. In our hearts and the depths of our personality he makes a home for himself and the Father. He asks for a loving and welcoming heart, not a place that is perfect, tidy and clean. To make a home is a work of love. Jesus’ making of a home in us comes through our growth in development and love. The loving marriage and family, the loving friendship, the heart that cares for others, these are what make Jesus feel at home.
Is this a strange way of looking on God? We think of God in the power of nature and almost the maker of history. God seems to reject this all powerful view of himself and makes himself accessible in the home of our hearts.
Home is a place of help. We look out for each other and the contented home is where each cares for the other. St Ignatius used say each day, ‘Who can I help today?’
Maybe we can make that part of the music of our homes. This is God helping through you, and it is God finding us and each other in love.
Lord, open my heart to prayer and care this day.
Open my eyes to the beauty and problems of others.
Open my heart to your love for me and to share it with others

Mass to mark the 25th Anniversary of the Ordination of the Late Fr. Colm O’Brien

This year marks the 25th Anniversary of the Ordination to the Priesthood of a remarkable, humble, prayerful and genuine priest, who sadly died at the young age of 36 in 2009 after serving as curate in both SS Peter & Paul’s Clonmel and Holy Cross Tramore.
Fr. Colm O’Brien was ordained to the priesthood on 4th June 2000 by Bishop William Lee in his home parish of St Paul’s in Waterford.
A way of celebrating and thanking God for Fr. Colm’s life and priesthood, Bishop Cullinan will celebrate a Mass of Thanksgiving for the Priesthood of Fr. Colm, on what would have been his 25th Anniversary, on Tuesday 3rd June at 7.30pm in St Pauls Church, Waterford. Everyone is most welcome to come to the Mass and give thanks to God for the impact Fr. Colm made in those years, and to pray for the happy repose of his soul.

Jubilee Prayer

Father in heaven, may the faith you have given us in your son, Jesus Christ, our brother, and the flame of charity enkindled in our hearts by the Holy Spirit, reawaken in us the blessed hope for the coming of your kingdom.

May your grace transform us into tireless cultivators of the seeds of the Gospel. May those seeds transform from within both humanity and the whole cosmos in the sure expectation of a new heaven and a new earth, when, with the powers of Evil vanquished, your glory will shine eternally.

May the grace of the Jubilee reawaken in us, Pilgrims of Hope, a yearning for the treasures of heaven.
May that same grace spread the joy and peace of our Redeemer throughout the earth.
To you our God, eternally blessed, be glory and praise for ever. Amen

Ciorcal Cómhrá Returns – Fáilte Mór Roimh Chách!

We are delighted to welcome everyone back to the Ciorcal Cómhrá at Tramore Library. Following the Easter break, our weekly Irish conversation group will be meeting again on Thursdays at 7pm and we can’t wait to get chatting again.
Our sessions are all about enjoying the language together, having a laugh, and keeping the cúpla focal alive in a supportive setting. It’s a lovely way to spend an hour through sharing stories, trying out a few sentences and connecting with others over a mutual love of Gaeilge.
Come along as we pick up where we left off. We’re looking forward to seeing familiar faces and welcoming new ones too. Bígí linn!
