Topic: Christ in the Old Testament: Israel’s Christ-like Leaders
Dear friends,
We are back in lockdown mode once again and it has been a very strange and unsettling year, to say the least. I hope you and all your loved ones are all keeping safe and well. I have decided to hold another Scripture course via Zoom, if you are interested. It begins this Friday.
For the next four weeks, every Tuesday and Friday evening, we will take a tour through the Old Testament, at some of its key figures, of the men and women who were Christ-like leaders to the people of Israel at different times of need. It is an informal course, with an emphasis on reading passages from the Bible. As before, I will present and we will read together, with time for discussion at the end.
Studying the great Christ-like figures will help us to know more about Jesus Christ himself, as we find his reflection mirrored in many great people from the past, such as Abraham, Moses, David, Deborah, Judith, Esther, Elijah, etc. Each of these people has something to teach us today about who Jesus is, and about our own calling as his baptised disciples. We will also find inspiration in their lives and examples of how God raises up great leaders among his people in times of greatest need, and that even when things seem darkest and hopeless, God’s power manifests itself most clearly. These leaders therefore give great hope to the Church of today, facing so much difficulty and uncertainty.
